“North Carolina Woman Starts ‘Burn Your Mask’ Challenge to ‘Ignite Freedom’” – Newsweek
I won’t stay at home
and I won’t wear a mask.
When will it hit home
that I’ll never wear a mask?
I refuse to socially distance;
I won’t give up my freedom.
How short is the distance
between tyranny and freedom!
It’s time to reopen the economy
so I can work my dead-end job;
Soon I’ll grow rich like the economy
and quit my dead-end job.
Don’t raise the minimum wage,
don’t raise my taxes;
may the free market set my wage
and I, a rich man, pay no taxes—
Why should I pay the lazy
to stay home?* I have worked hard
to judge who is worthy, who is lazy;
I alone know that life can be hard.
I have had enough of pandemics.
I am as invincible as when, a youth,
I gave no thought to death or pandemics:
I remain as immortal as in my youth.
And if I die, let it be for the common good,
like a soldier in one of our glorious wars;
Never tell me what is for the common good:
I burn my mask—I shall win this holy war!
