The majesty, the terror of a morning wrapped in fog.
My veins dipped in sugar, synapses soaked
In the chemistry at the core of life: nucleotides
Flush with the push and pull of lunar longing.
I dissolve into a dust that spreads across the earth:
Grain of hope, grain of despair, grain of grains
That holds the cosmos together!
Time moves too quickly. Time starts and stops.
My brain is a watch. Every thought counts off
The passing of countless lifetimes.
A flock of bliss migrates from me to you and back again…
Seasons, epochs, centuries disappear in a flurry of hungry motion:
Flight of memory, flight of forgetting, flight of flights
That lifts and drops me in a thicket of verse!
Good morning, world. Shall we drop anchor
Where all is calm and all is chaos?
Shall we rise and partake of the dew?
I am yours and you are mine. We entwine like sheets and limbs,
Root and soil, wing and air, lamp and shadow:
O fear of erasure, fear of clarity, fear of fears
That jolts me awake…
I demand to know how I fell in love so desperately!
