So what’s Be The Change about? I’ve run a nonprofit, Capital Good Fund, for 12 years and counting. During that time, I’ve made a lot of mistakes and learned a few things. In part, this newsletter is an opportunity for me to tell stories–some funny, some serious, some a combination of the two–about the day-to-day life of running a social enterprise. But beyond that, it’s a means of sharing ideas and insights on social change from a variety of perspectives: poetry, the nonprofit and business worlds, and public policy / politics.
I don’t have the answers to much, but I’ve thought a lot about the questions, be they related to climate change, immigration, predatory lending, income inequality, or mass incarceration. It is my hope that what I have to say, whether it is in the form of a poem, essay, or simply an anecdote, will resonate, inspire, and delight you. Each Be the Change post will be available at this link, but I will also send out a compilation of recent posts at least once a week; as the list grows, I may update to two newsletters a week.
